Senior Accountant Chelmsford Essex

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join the team at our office in Chelmsford in Essex. Working closely with the local office Director, dealing with a varied client portfolio, you will be responsible for high level client service delivery on time and within budget. Successful candidates will be encouraged to further develop their skills in a well-established and ambitious practice.

Main Responsibilities

• Preparation and completion of statutory accounts, year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
• Dealing with a varied client portfolio (T/O up to £4m) including OMB’s, property investors, property developers, agricultural, retail etc.
• Preparation of corporation tax returns
• Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts, including forecasting and budgeting
• Preparation of bookkeeping and VAT returns
• CIS return preparation and submissions
• Finalising accounts under the overall control of Director
• Organisation of own workflow, allocation of assignments, management of time as necessary, ensuring completion within agreed time and budget
• Liaison with third parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers etc.)
• Development and maintenance of effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required
• Resolution of ongoing client queries, escalating as necessary
• Involvement in ad-hoc client projects

Skills, Experience and Attributes required

• AAT/ACCA/ICAEW qualified
• Experience of working in an accountancy practice
• Up to date statutory accounts knowledge and sound accounting, corporate / personal tax and VAT technical knowledge
• Experienced in preparation of management accounts (including forecasting and budgeting)
• Possesses client focused approach with proven experience of building and maintaining excellent client relationships
